Worldwide outreach for a global challenge: Brucellosis Vaccine Prize presented at scientific events around the world
Since applications opened at the Brucellosis International Research Conference late last year, the Brucellosis Vaccine Prize competition has been presented at a number of key scientific events across the globe. Funded by AgResults and implemented by GALVmed, the US $30 million competition invites vaccine developers to submit their proposals for – and ultimately develop – a suitable vaccine that is efficacious, safe and viable for use against Brucella melitensis in small ruminants across the developing world.
Last month, the competition was showcased at the Veterinary Vaccinology Network’s annual conference – and GALVmed CEO Peter Jeffries presented details to a group of researchers at a Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) meeting on zoonotic diseases. Here, Peter outlines the purpose and nature of the competition – the first of its kind in animal health.
